Student posts photo of moldy cream cheese allegedly served at school

MUNCIE, Ind. — Students at Muncie Central High School may want to pass on the bagels for awhile.

That’s because student Quinesha Porter posted a photo on Facebook that she claims is a cup of cream cheese she purchased at the school. The photo shows the open cup of cream cheese, which is covered in green mold.

According to Buzzfeed, the student and a friend took the spoiled cream cheese to the principal. Cafeteria staff were alerted and did not find any other cups of cream cheese with mold, but threw the case out as a precaution.

Local health officials stated that the single cup of moldy cream cheese was not the school’s fault and could have happened anywhere. The school defends its food safety practices.

Still, the school has reportedly dealt before with accusations of questionable food being served on campus. Porter says food served in the school’s cafeteria has not been right in the past.

Isaiah York, a friend of Porter’s, told local media that he was planning on bringing his own food to school after the disturbing incident.
