Super Bowl 50 halftime show brings Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Beyonce

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Coldplay's Super Bowl 50 halftime show brought out two special guests: Bruno Mars and Beyonce.

Coldplay opened on the field with a line from 2000's "Yellow" and transitioned into its 2008 hit  "Viva La Vida."

A marching band accompanied the band on "Paradise," its 2011 single.

In the middle of a colorful, psychedelic performance, Bruno Mars came in to perform "Uptown Funk" clad in leather jumpsuit and gold chain.

But it was Beyonce who stole the show.

The singer emerged as a special guest to sing her surprise single "Formation" in the middle of the field.

Against a live marching band, the singer danced with dozens of female backup dancers on the field.

Then the two special guests made their way on stage and had a dance-off to a reprise of "Uptown Funk."

Next, Coldplay performed a medley of classic songs by past Super Bowl halftime performances against a backdrop of archive footage of U2, James Brown, Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson, among others.

After a medley that included Prince's "Purple Rain," "It's A Beautiful Day" and others, Beyonce and Bruno Mars returned to sing Coldplay's "Up&Up," and the Super Bowl 50 halftime show was over.
