Trace Adkins makes surprise visit to VA medical center, wishes veteran a happy 106th birthday

MARTINSBURG, W. Va. — A group of veterans got a special surprise Saturday when country music icon Trace Adkins stopped by a VA Medical Center in West Virginia.

According to WDVM-TV, Adkins visited the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, where he spoke with veterans and even wished one a happy 106th birthday.

"Known for his patriotic songs and non-profit work with Veterans organizations, Mr. Adkins spent time with our Veterans in the Domiciliary and Community Living Center and signed a birthday card for Mr. Clark, who just turned 106," the center captioned a now-viral Facebook post that featured several photos from the event. "Thank you to Trace Adkins and his team for coordinating this amazing visit. We appreciate you taking the time to visit Veterans at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center!"

Adkins, who was in town for a concert later that evening, told WDVM that working with veterans is "the most rewarding thing" he's done.

"I just love rubbing shoulders with heroes," he said.
