BROOKLYN, N.Y. — One man died, and four other people were wounded after gunfire erupted at the Coney Island boardwalk just before midnight Saturday in Brooklyn, New York.
According to police, the shooting occurred near the Coney Island houses, WABC-TV reported.
The victim who died has been identified only as a 42-year-old man who was shot in the back and was pronounced dead at an area hospital, the TV station reported.
According to WPIX-TV, the four people wounded included two women, ages 49 and 34, who were struck in the right leg and right foot, respectively. A 46-year-old man and another adult male were each shot in the left leg, and all four victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment in stable condition.
According to officials with the New York Police Department, the preliminary investigation indicated that the man who died was the intended target of the shooting and that the other victims were collateral damage, but no further details have been released, WABC reported.
There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
