MADISONVILLE, Texas — One person is dead and five others are hurt after a small plane crashed while trying to land at a Texas airport, authorities said.
According to KTRK and KBTX, the incident occurred about 1 a.m. Monday at Madisonville Municipal Airport. The single-engine aircraft failed to reach the runway and crash-landed, Madisonville police said.
Authorities said one person was killed, the news outlets reported. Emergency crews flew five others to a nearby hospital, where they were listed in critical condition, officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash, according to the news outlets.
