MARANA, Ariz. — An Arizona man died Thursday after being stung multiple times by a swarm of bees, authorities said.
According to a tweet from Northwest Fire, three people are believed to have been stung “hundreds of times” after bees swarmed out of a large open hive in a tree. The hive weighed approximately 100 pounds, firefighters said.
The incident occurred in Marana, located northwest of Tucson, KOLD reported.

Northwest Fire also confirmed that three firefighters dispatched to the scene were stung multiple times, KVOA reported. One firefighter was taken to an area hospital to be treated for 60 bee stings and was later released, the television station reported.
No further details have been released, including the name of the man who was killed, KVOA reported.
