SAN ANTONIO — Two people were killed and five others were wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting during a family barbecue Saturday night in San Antonio, authorities said.
San Antonio police responded to reports of a shooting in progress at about 10:13 p.m. CDT, KENS-TV reported.
According to San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus, a dark-colored SUV drove by a residence and fired about 20 to 30 shots at the group, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
Two men were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the newspaper. Two women and three men were injured and taken to area hospitals. Their conditions were unknown.
The ages of the victims ranged from “20 to the mid-40s,” McManus said.
There were six children inside the house who were not injured, the police chief told reporters.
“Back in May, there was a deadly conduct incident at this house, a drive-by, but other than that we don’t have any incidents at this house,” said McManus, who added that investigators were still “piecing together” what happened.
The case remains under investigation.
