DURHAM, N.C. — Two men were fatally shot near a parking deck on the campus of North Carolina Central University on Saturday night, which prompted a lockdown of a stadium full of football fans, authorities said.
According to the Durham Police Department, the men were shot in the surface parking lot next to the Latham Parking Deck, The News & Observer of Raleigh reported. The police department said in a tweet that the men were taken to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Campus police sent an alert to the NCCU at about 9:30 p.m. EDT, WRAL reported. Neither of the victims was a student, NCCU officials said in a statement.
The victims were not students according to North Carolina Central University. This is an active investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Durham CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.

Police did not identify the men or their ages.
More than 5,600 fans were at nearby O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium to watch the Eagles play Winston-Salem State, the television station reported. After an initial lockdown of the stadium, university officials said on Facebook that there was no ongoing threat to the campus.
Police said they are searching for a black Nissan Altima with tinted windows.
NCCU, a public historically Black university, has an enrollment of about 8,000 students as of last fall, CNN reported.
