BUFFALO, N.Y. — Zev, a K-9 officer with the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority’s Transit Police, is the real hero after the agency intercepted 120 pounds of marijuana on a recent inbound flight to Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
Acting on a law enforcement tip from Sacramento, California, officers in Buffalo were aware a large shipment of marijuana was en route, WGRZ reported.
According to WIVB, Zev’s “free air sniff” alerted his handler and other officers to the appropriate bags.
After a warrant to search the five suspected bags was obtained, officers discovered the pot worth an estimated $400,000, the TV station reported.
