Five women were killed Saturday when the sedan they were riding in was hit head-on by another vehicle on a South Florida expressway, authorities said.
The women were inside a gray Honda sedan on the Palmetto Expressway near Hialeah at about 4:30 a.m. when their vehicle was hit by a man driving the wrong way in a silver Infiniti sedan, the Miami Herald reported.
Update 1:04 p.m. EDT Aug. 21: According to online court records, Maiky Simeon, 30, of Miami Gardens, has not had a driver’s license since a 2014 ticket in Collier County for driving 109 mph, the Miami Herald reported. Simeon also still owes $1,070.38 in traffic fines to Miami-Dade and Collier counties, according to the newspaper.
A search of online court records and a database show that Simeon has been ticketed in nine traffic incidents since 2013. He has been convicted in four of these cases, the Herald reported.

The FHP later identified the injured driver as 30-year-old Maiky Simeon, WPLG-TV reported.
“Our crews had to use the jaws of life to crop out one victim that was trapped in his vehicle,” Marc Chavers, the division chief for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, told WTVJ. “Unfortunately in the other vehicle there was no one alive to be saved.”
Investigators have not named any of the victims in the Honda, the Herald reported.
