SEEKONK, Mass. — A 6-year-old from Massachusetts is raising money in the memory of her best friend.
Jaylyn Keeney’s dog Dexter died recently and she’s remembering him by helping out a local animal shelter, WJAR reported.
She’s selling lemonade to raise money to help animals who don’t have homes of their own.
“Our dog’s name was Dexter. He was a mini goldendoodle. He ended up having a cardiac issue and he outlived his expectancy but suddenly passed of a heart issue,” Jaylyn’s mother Rebecca Keeney told WJAR.
Jaylyn’s family spread the word about her lemonade fundraiser setup on Memorial Day. Along with the cups and containers of juice, she put a photo of Dexter and a stuffed animal that looked like him on the stand.

Jaylyn took her profits from the stand, at which she sold lemonade for $1 a cup, and donated them to the Seekonk Animal Shelter.
In the end she had collected $1,000 but more donations were expected to come in, WJAR reported.
