OWENSVILLE, Ind. — You’re never too old to go sledding.
A 94-old Indiana man took advantage of the snow and ice last week, climbing aboard a wooden sled and taking a ride down a steep hill, WFIE-TV reported.
William Ping, of Owensville, said he was watching children frolicking in the snow when he decided to go sledding for the first time in 20 years, according to the television station.
“I walked out and took my old wooden sled and they sent me down the hill, and I was packing the mail,” Ping told WFIE. “That hill was slippery, almost ice. And I don’t know how fast I was going but it was faster than I thought it would be.”
Ping is a World War II veteran and a former pastor. He also had open-heart surgery two years ago to repair 90% blockage, so taking a ride down a hill was like a ride in the park.
Surrounded by his family, Ping went headfirst down the hill to loud cheers.
“They were yelling and screaming, I thought that was the best part of it,” Ping told WEHT-TV. “They thought that was cool.”
Ping is a big motivator for his family.
“He’s out walking,” Ping’s grandson, Bill, told the television station. “He’s walking circles around us all the time.”
