Actor Richard Gere is recovering from pneumonia he caught while vacationing in Mexico, his wife said.
Gere, 73, was in Mexico with his wife, Alejandra Silva, who was celebrating her 40th birthday, People reported.
TMZ was the first outlet to report that the star of movies such as “An Officer and a Gentleman,” “American Gigolo” and “Pretty Woman” had been hospitalized.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Silva thanked fans for their support.
“I woke up this morning and I saw the news and all your kind and (worried) messages, he is recovering,” Silva wrote. “He is (feeling) much better today!”
“The worst has already (passed)!” Silva wrote. “Thank you all for (your) sweet messages we really appreciate them!”
Gere was released from a hospital after an overnight stay and prescribed antibiotics, Fox News reported.
Gere, a Golden Globe Award winner, married Silva in 2018, according to the news outlet.
Gere and Silva have two boys together, People reported. Gere also has a 22-year-old son, Homer Gere, from his ex-wife Carey Lowell. Silva has a son, Albert, 9, from a previous marriage, according to the magazine.
