Emmy Award-winning actress Susan Lucci announced the death of her 104-year-old mother on social media.
The longtime star of the soap opera, “All My Children,” broke the news of Jeanette Lucci on her Instagram account on Friday. Susan Lucci, 74, posted a photo of herself with her mother on the occasion of Jeanette Lucci’s 100th birthday, People reported.
“Celebrating my mom’s 100th birthday with her -- four years ago,” Susan Lucci wrote. “There were toasts to her and stories of her growing up in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains and lots of love and music and laughter.
“But, three weeks ago I received a call saying that my mother had suddenly taken a turn towards end of life -- I only hoped and prayed I would get to her in time -- I am eternally grateful to God and her wonderful hospice nurses, that I did.”
Susan Lucci added that she “always mentioned how spunky my mom was.”
“I’m sure that determination really helped her to reach 104,” the actress wrote.
Susan Lucci starred on 1,509 episodes of “All My Children” from 1970 to 2011, according to IMDb.com.
She became famous for annually being nominated for a Daytime Emmy but never receiving one, according to “Today.” After 18 nominations, she finally won an Emmy in 1999.
