Lil Keed, an Atlanta rapper signed to Young Thug’s YSL Records, died Friday, his brother confirmed on social media. He was 24.
No cause of death was given for the rapper, whose real name was Raqhid Jevon Render, Rolling Stone reported. It was also unclear where Render died.
Render’s brother, Lil Gotit, announced the rapper’s death in an Instagram post, WSB-TV reported.
“Can’t believe I seened u die today bro I did all my cries,” Lil Gotit, whose name is Semaja Render, wrote on Instagram in a caption beneath a photograph of the two brothers.
The rapper’s representative also confirmed the death to Complex.
Render was scheduled to play the Daze in Blue music festival in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday night, according to WSB.
Quana Bandz, Keed’s girlfriend and mother of their daughter Naychur, shared an Instagram post confirming the rapper’s death.
Render rose to prominence in the Atlanta hip-hop scene in 2018, Rolling Stone reported. A popular string of mixtapes followed, including “Keed Talk to ’Em” and “Trapped in Cleveland.” His 2019 debut album, “Long Live Mexico,” was released in 2019, the magazine reported.
In 2020, Render teamed with his brother and fellow Atlanta residents Lil Yachty and Zaytoven for the “A-Team” mixtape, according to Rolling Stone.
Render’s death comes several days after Young Thug was arrested at an Atlanta home on a sweeping gang indictment that named 27 other people, WSB reported. Fellow YSL rapper Gunna was also indicted. Render was not among the 28 people named in the indictment, according to the television station.
Render was born in Atlanta in the same neighborhood as Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, according to WSB.
