Battle rapper Pat Stay, 36, fatally stabbed in Nova Scotia, police say

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, Canada — Canadian battle rapper Pat Stay was fatally stabbed in Nova Scotia early Sunday morning, police confirmed. He was 36.

Police found the rapper, born Patrick Wayne Stay, suffering from multiple stab wounds just after midnight in downtown Halifax, CBS News reported.

Stay was transported to an area medical center, where he died, CBC News reported.

An autopsy performed by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service determined Stay’s manner of death was homicide, Halifax Regional Police confirmed to the Canadian network.

No arrests have been made.

After news of Stay’s death broke, fellow rappers paid their respects via social media, including Eminem, who tweeted the following:

Meanwhile, fellow Canadian rapper Drake honored Stay with the following Instagram story tribute: “RIP to the Sucka Free Boss.. One of my fav rappers ever.”

Drake also contributed a brief quote praising Stay’s latest track that dropped two days ago, according to CBC.

“Pat Stay’s definitely one of, if not, the best,” Drake said in the video.
