November’s full moon, also known as the beaver moon, appeared in the night sky early Friday. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the display marks “the time of year when beavers begin to take shelter in their lodges,” hence the unusual nickname.

This year’s beaver moon also coincided with a partial lunar eclipse – the longest in 580 years, Space.com reported.
