Although White and her husband, Allen Ludden, built the three-story house together, he died in 1981 shortly after it was completed, People magazine reported.

“The home embodies the spirit of Betty and Allen. It was eloquently understated with the focus on nature and the natural beauty surrounding the home,” Nicole Truszkowski of Truszkowski Freedman & Associates, Sotheby’s International Realty - Carmel Brokerage, who holds the listing alongside Zak Freedman, told People.

“Spending time in Carmel was one of Betty’s favorite things to do. She enjoyed many treasured moments with her family and close friends,” Truszkowski added.

Carmel is located about 75 miles south of San Jose and about 120 miles south of San Francisco.

In a news release announcing the new listing, Truszkowski called the Carmel home White’s “special sanctuary” and “one of her favorite places to recharge and rejuvenate.”

According to entertainment news outlet Dirt, the couple commissioned the four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom beach house built after buying a nearly quarter-acre plot for just $170,000 in 1978.

The 3,621-square-foot house was designed by architect Richard Hicks and includes outdoor decks, floor-to-ceiling windows that allow abundant natural light, a storybook garden and more, The Sacramento Bee reported.

Per the listing, the mid-century “masterpiece” also boasts panoramic ocean views of the Point Lobos Nature Reserve, Ribera Beach and Monastery Beach from nearly every room.

White’s agent and close friend Jeff Witjas confirmed to People that the “Golden Girls” and “Hot in Cleveland” star, who died Dec. 31 just a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday, made her primary residence in Brentwood, California.
