GAINESVILLE, Texas — That will be one patty melt with jalapeños, one junior cheeseburger -- and one wedding ceremony.
A Texas couple stopped at a local Whataburger for a fast-food lunch and a quick wedding, KXII-TV reported.
“It was our first date, so we needed something quick to get married at, and this was perfect,” Krissie Phillips, who married Clay Mitchell at the restaurant in Gainesville, told the television station.

The couple met while doing physical training together. Soon afterward, Mitchell went to Missouri for training with the Marines, according to KXII.
That forced the couple into a long-distance relationship for six months.
“She’s everything to me,” Mitchell told the television station. “It was so hard being away for so long, and when I got back, everything was so different, but she’s still here.”
Mitchell learned he would be coming back to Texas for 15 days before shipping out to California for a three-year hitch. That is when he asked Phillips about a quick wedding at the Whataburger.
“I was like, ‘I love you so as long as we’re married,’” Phillips told KXII.
Phillips walked down the “aisle” at Whataburger in front of friends, family members and several customers.
The newlyweds will travel together to California in a few days.
“I’m so happy I get to go with him and be with him, ‘cause it was hard not being with him for six months,” she told KXII. “A lot of things happened to make sure we know that its fate, so we just kinda know.”
