WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Canadian police arrested a 34-year-old man Thursday after he was spotted brandishing a drywall saw that had been taped to a table leg on a street in Winnipeg, authorities said.
Police responded around 5 p.m. to a report of a man carrying what was described as “a large knife taped to a baseball bat,” officials said. Officers later found a man, identified as 34-year-old Fletcher Kenneth Beach, wielding what was determined to be a saw affixed to a table leg “in a threatening manner,” according to police.
“(Beach) refused repeated demands to drop the weapon,” authorities said in a news release, prompting officers to deploy a stun gun.
Beach was taken into custody and charged with one count each of possession of a weapon and resisting a peace officer and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
