CHICAGO — A 23-month-old boy died Tuesday when he was beaten to death during a domestic dispute in a Chicago neighborhood, authorities said.
According to Chicago police, the child was punched multiple times in the face by a man in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city’s South Side, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The toddler was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, WBBM reported.
The man, who police said has a history of mental illness, was taken into custody at the scene, according to the Chicago Tribune. Police have not identified the man.
Police said charges are pending, the Sun-Times reported. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has not released details on the death, according to the newspaper.
