After nearly 10 million Americans filed for unemployment in March, nearly a third of all renters didn’t pay their April rent, an apartment industry group says.
The National Multifamily Housing Council reported that 69% of households paid rent, down from 82% from the same time a year earlier.
About 81% of households paid their March rent.
The group tracks rent payments for about 13.4 million units across the country.
Many states and cities have placed moratoriums on evictions and late fees.
