Double meteor shower: 7 stunning photos as Delta Aquariids, Alpha Capricornids peak

Tuesday night marked the peak for two meteor showers: the Southern Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids, according to the American Meteor Society.

Skygazers are flocking to social media this week to share their meteor photos. Here are some of our favorites:

As I mentioned earlier, I went back to Moraine State Park to shoot the Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids meteor shower. Saw plenty, and captured a handful, including 6 in this frame. The best photo opportunities are sometimes unexpected! Last night I was out shooting the Perseids meteor shower, and the only bright one I captured was partly behind a tree. However, I didn’t realise that the Delta Aquariids were only 1 day from peaking, and I saw two huge fireballs fly across the sky within a couple seconds of each other. Luckily they were both perfectly in frame!⠀ ⠀ EXIF:⠀ 📷: LUMIX GH5 w/ LUMIX 12-60mm⠀ ⠀ 20 frames stacked for noise-free sky, with meteors aligned/composited on top⠀ 12mm, f/3.5, 15”, ISO 6400
