SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — A California man arrested on drug charges is believed to have used a drone to deliver heroin to customers, investigators said.
Simi Valley police said John Piani was operating a drone when he was arrested Friday on drug charges and when officers recovered the device, heroin was attached to it, the Ventura County Star reported.
The aerial transportation of the illicit inventory was discovered when officers were investigating Piani for possible heroin and methamphetamine sales, police said. Officials plan to further investigate the drone’s use.
Piani was arrested and charged with felony drug possession. He was in jail on a $125,000 bail.
