ELOY, Ariz. — Arizona voters may have approved a ballot measure in November legalizing recreational marijuana, but authorities believe one man took the spirit of the law a little too far.
According to a Facebook post by officials with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped Jesus Carmelo Juarez on Sunday for alleged speeding and discovered more than 450 pounds of marijuana during the traffic stop, KSAZ-TV reported.
Sheriff Mark Lamb, who was quoted in the post, clarified Juarez’ ensuing arrest.
“Dude, you can’t have THAT much weed,” Lamb stated.
The post also noted that Juarez’ haul was a “smidge over the legal limit of one ounce for adults over 21 years old.”
Juarez, who was booked into the Pinal County Jail, has been charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana, KVOA reported.
