Facebook and other social media platforms have become the primary source of human connection during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now Facebook is making sure you can show, in a whimsical way that you care with the addition of two new reaction emojis.
A “care” emoji is a yellow smiley face hugging a red heart and is available on the main Facebook platform. The second emoji is available on Facebook Messenger and is a purple beating heart, CNET reported.
The two new graphics were unveiled by a Facebook communications manager who made the announcement on Twitter.
We’re launching new Care reactions on @facebookapp and @Messenger as a way for people to share their support with one another during this unprecedented time.

Not everyone is embracing the new graphics.
Some say the heart-hugging emoji looks like a Valentine’s Day stuffed bear, according to Search Engine Journal.

The same tech site says the beating heart resembles the Warner Brothers cartoon logo.
This is now the seventh reaction emoji available on Facebook, CNET reported.
