Florida deputy arrested after domestic dispute

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Florida deputy is accused of breaking into his ex-wife’s home and allegedly leaving her bruised, authorities said.

Michael Dale Deerman II, 35, who has been a member of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office for nearly six years, faces a charge of burglary with battery, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Deerman, a corporal, allegedly forced his way into his ex-wife’s home in Seminole. The victim had told the deputy not to enter the home, which she owns, the release stated.

Deerman allegedly blocked the door and grabbed the victim’s arm, the Tampa Bay Times reported. He allegedly place the victim’s arm behind her back and pushed her into a wall, entering the residence, the sheriff’s office said in its release.

The victim suffered redness and bruising to her arm, WTVT reported.

According to online booking records, Deerman was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail at about 2:30 a.m. EDT on Sunday. He posted $150,000 bail about an hour later, online records show.

An investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.
