ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida police and firefighters rescued a family of four after their car flipped and became submerged in a body of water Thursday night.
Officials from the Orlando Police Department said that police officers, firefighters, and witnesses responded when the vehicle hurtled into water in an area east of Orlando shortly before 7:30 p.m.
According to WFTV, a witness directed officers to the car. The officer and a witness were able to pull a woman and one child to safety.
Moments later, a dive team from the Orlando Fire Department arrived and pulled a man and a second child out of the water, the television station reported.
According to police, the man was trapped in the car, and the child, who was the younger of the two children, was strapped into a car seat, WFTV reported.
All four family members were taken to an area hospital are expected to survive, the television station reported. Police did not say what may have caused the crash.
