According to the release, the FDC takes all allegations of abuse or mistreatment of inmates seriously and any employee found to have acted inappropriately or illegally will face the consequences of those actions.
Secretary Mark Inch said: “The charges against Antonio Carlisle are deeply disturbing and abhorrent. His actions are absolutely contrary to the core values of the Florida Department of Corrections. FDC is moving forward with his immediate dismissal.”
The FDC Office of Inspector General is responsible for ensuring all reports of misconduct are investigated. The FDC OIG continues to diligently investigate this case.
According to court records, on Aug. 6, 2019, Carlisle allegedly overpowered an inmate while he was assisting them with their education. Then the document says Carlisle penetrated the victim without consent and proceeded with sexual intercourse.
