Ford Motor Company announced it will stop taking orders for its new 2022 Maverick pickup truck until summer, saying they simply can’t keep up with the demand.

The company will stop taking new orders after Jan. 27 to focus on existing orders, and will then resume taking orders for the 2023 Maverick in the summer, Reuters reported. While Ford will not be accepting new orders, customers may be able to still purchase a Maverick at a local dealer.

“We didn’t want to take more orders than we could build. We’re getting customers who would have perhaps bought a used car and are now buying the Maverick because it is so affordable,” Dean Stoneley, general manager of Ford trucks, told The Wall Street Journal.

The stoppage impacts both the hybrid and gasoline-powered models of the car, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The Maverick, which was first revealed in June, starts at $20,000 and gets 42mpg in the city. After the truck went on sale, reservations surged to 100,000 in August, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Dealers of all vehicles have had trouble keeping any cars in stock because of a chip shortage, which has caused production issues for car manufacturers over the last year, The Wall Street Journal reported.
