Solinger’s wife, actress Paula Marcenaro Solinger, confirmed the singer’s death Saturday night on social media.

“Johnny has passed. I was holding his hand. He went in peace. Thank you all,” she wrote. “I will take a break from everything but please know I am forever grateful for your love.”

A cause has not been released. However, in May, Johnny Solinger revealed he was battling liver failure.

Solinger performed with Skid Row from 1999, when the band reformed, until his split with the group in 2015. His time with the band surpassed that of Sebastian Bach, the band’s original singer.

In his solo career, Solinger released a handful of country albums fused with rock.
