The Fugees’ final studio album, “The Score” spawned hits including “Ready or Not,” “Fu-Gee-La,” and “Killing Me Softly,” and went on to become one of the bestselling albums of all time. It earned the group a Grammy Award for best rap album, while “Killing Me Softly” won best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocal.
“The Fugees have a complex but impactful history,” Hill said in a statement obtained by Pitchfork. “I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
In the statement, Jean said his first member of the group was vowing “from the game (that) we would not just do music we would be a movement. We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.”
