‘Home Free’: Greyhound reminds public of its program offering free ticket home to runaway kids

At this time of year, Greyhound likes to remind the public of a longstanding program that the company participates in, designed to help reunite runaway youth with their families.

The program is called “Home Free,” and it marked its 30th anniversary in 2017. Partnering with the National Runaway Safeline, Greyhound offers free bus tickets to those between the ages of 12-21 who are listed on a runaway report and are willing to be reunited with their families. The offer can only be used twice by the same person. If the runaway is under the age of 15, a free ticket for the legal parent or guardian will also be provided, Greyhound said.

According to Greyhound, about 400 youth participate in the program each year.
