KOPPERSTON, W. Va. — A West Virginia woman is facing arson and attempted murder charges after police said she allegedly set fire to the home where she had been staying after its two other occupants asked her to leave.
Bridget Avonelle Cozort, 30, of Kopperston was told to vacate the property on May 21, which she did the following morning, but not before authorities said she set fire to living room curtains before leaving the house with the other two women still inside, WVNS reported.
Both women escaped the home safely, and first responders were able to extinguish the flames, WVVA reported.
Wyoming County Prosecutor Mike Cochrane confirmed to WVNS that Cozort was arrested on drug possession and a revoked driver’s license charges on May 28, to which the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office added one count of first-degree arson and two counts of attempted murder on June 9.
Cozort’s bail was set at $100,000, WVAA reported.
