NEW YORK — Friends and family members gathered in New York City on Wednesday to mourn businesswoman Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of former President Donald Trump, following her death last week.
Mourners gathered for Ivana Trump’s funeral at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church on the Upper East Side, WNYW reported. The ceremony closed to the public, according to WCBS-TV.
The former president said in a statement posted on Truth Social, the social media site he founded last year, that he planned to attend Wednesday’s service.
“A very sad day, but at the same time a celebration of a wonderful and beautiful life,” he wrote. “This will not be easy!!!”
Also in attendance were Ivana Trump’s three children and their partners – Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancee, Kimberly Guilfoyle; Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner; and Eric Trump and his wife, Lara. Tiffany Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter from his marriage to Marla Maples, and Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s son from his marriage to Melania Trump, also attended, according to photos from the ceremony.
Ivana Trump, who was married to Donald Trump from 1977 until 1992, died unexpectedly at her home in New York on Thursday. Officials determined that the 73-year-old’s death was an accident as a result of “blunt impact injuries of the torso” after she apparently fell down a set of stairs.
She is survived by her mother, her three children and 10 grandchildren.
