“With much sadness, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has passed away. We would be grateful for family privacy at this time,” Cave said in a prepared statement released Monday.

Additional details were not immediately available.

Cave, best known as the frontman for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, also lost his younger son Arthur Cave in 2015, when the then-15-year-old fell off a cliff in England, Today reported.

According to The Guardian, Lazenby was born in 1991 to Cave and Beau Lazenby, while his half-brother, Luke, was born 10 days later to Cave’s first wife, Viviane Carneiro.

Although Lazenby was raised in Australia, he moved to the United Kingdom as a young man, launching a modeling career that included stints with Balenciaga and Versace, the news outlet reported.

Lazenby, whose lawyer said he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, was found guilty in April of unlawful assault after physically attacking his mother in March. He was released from jail on that charge last weekend, The Guardian reported.

Lazenby was previously convicted of assault against his then-girlfriend in 2018, the news outlet reported.
