Kentucky man arrested for allegedly shooting mom on Mother’s Day over X-Box controller gift

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. — A Kentucky man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his mom on Mother’s Day after an argument they had over an X-Box controller he gave to her as a gift, police say.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) says that around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, deputies learned that a person was headed to the hospital with a gunshot injury. Jacob R Small, 22, was waiting for them to arrive at a nearby home, according to WCSO.

Small told deputies that he and his mom got in an argument over an X-Box controller he gave to her as a Mother’s Day gift. When his mom and another unidentified woman were leaving their home, Small allegedly fired into her car, hitting his mom.

According to LEX18, the mom was transferred from Wayne County Hospital to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown.

Small has been booked on recommended charges of attempted murder-domestic violence, first-degree domestic violence assault, and second-degree criminal mischief.
