The Colosseum is the toy maker’s largest set ever, a recreation of Rome’s most famous landmark that has 9,036 pieces, Lego said on its website. The company’s new set, which will retail for $549.99, breaks the former record of 7,500 pieces, held by the Star Wars Millenium Falcon.

It will be available on Nov. 27.

The toy, which will rest on an oval base, stands 10.5 inches tall, is 20.5 inches wide and 23.5 inches deep, ToyNews reported.

The Lego version of the Colosseum is true to the original structure in Rome, with three distinct levels made up of Doric, Ionic and Corinthian columns, the website reported.

Rok Zgalin Kobe, who designed the set, said the biggest challenge was to convey the Colosseum’s “monumentality.”

“I felt that the Lego model should display a special architectural feature of the original -- the rows of columns flanking the arches in different styles," Kobe said in a statement. "To achieve that, the model is constructed using an effect of vertical exaggeration. The cross-section is therefore far steeper than on the real structure. Hopefully, people will be inspired to learn more about the original through the experience of building the Lego model.”

The Colosseum is the latest in a long line of landmarks and cities Kobe has designed for Lego. Other landmarks include Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Lincoln Memorial, the Louvre, Buckingham Palace, the Great Wall of China and the U.S. Capitol. Cities he has designed for Lego include New York, Chicago, Venice, London and Las Vegas.

Lego VIP members who buy the Colosseum during the Black Friday-Cyber Monday weekend will receive a limited-edition Roman chariot, ToyNews reported.
