Lynette Hardaway, who with her sister made up the conservative talk duo “Diamond and Silk,” has died, according to the two’s official Facebook page and a social media post from former President Donald Trump.
Hardaway, who was “Diamond” to her sister Herneitha Rochelle Hardaway’s “Silk,” was 51. No cause of death has been reported.
The two became famous for their political commentary on YouTube and appearances on Fox News’ Fox Nation. Their show, “Diamond and Silk Crystal Clear,” aired Saturday nights on Newsmax TV.
The two, who were registered Democrats but switched parties to become Republicans, were ardent supporters of Trump’s presidency. Trump posted about Hardaway’s death on his social media site, Truth Social.
“Really bad news for Republicans and frankly, ALL Americans,” Trump wrote. “Our beautiful Diamond, of Diamond and Silk, has just passed away at her home in the State she loved so much, North Carolina.
“Silk was with her all the way, and at her passing,” Trump added. “There was no better TEAM anywhere, or at any time! Diamond’s death was totally unexpected, probably her big and precious HEART just plain gave out. Rest in Peace our Magnificent Diamond, you will be greatly missed.”
According to Huffington Post, Diamond and Silk’s Twitter account had posted a request in November that fans pray for Hardaway but did not give details about why the request was made.
Diamond and Silk’s official Facebook page confirmed that Hardaway had died.
“The World just lost a True Angel and Warrior Patriot for Freedom, Love, and Humanity!” it read. “Diamond blazed a trail, founded on her passion and love for the entire race of humanity.”
