SYRACUSE, N.Y. — One man was killed and four other people were wounded early Saturday in Syracuse’s entertainment district, authorities said.
Police responded to the shooting in the central New York city’s Armory Square district at around 12:13 a.m. EDT, Sgt. Thomas Blake, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department, told the Syracuse Post-Standard.
The area, which contains bars and restaurants, is usually crowded on weekends with local residents and college students, according to the newspaper.

A 24-year-old man was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital, WSYR-TV reported. One person is in critical condition at the hospital, while the three other victims have injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to the television station.
The wounded victims are between 20 and 25 years and were all shot on the street, Blake told the Post-Standard.
The shooting occurred near Al’s Wine and Whiskey Lounge in the downtown area, WSTM-TV reported.
The area was cleared at about 6:40 a.m. EDT, the Post-Standard reported. Police have not announced any arrests or suspect information.
