“The initial investigation does not indicate any type of mechanical malfunction of the Sky Ride or the specific car the patient was riding in at the time of the fall,” officials with the Farmington Police Department told KSL-TV.
According to police, the 32-year-old man, who has not been identified publicly, was riding the attraction alone when he plunged roughly 50 feet. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries, KIFI reported.
Lagoon’s website likens the Sky Ride to a ski lift, as it “conveys guests to and from the north and south ends of the Midway,” KSL-TV reported.
