PHOENIX — A man convicted of adding harmful chemicals to food at several Arizona retail stores four years ago was sentenced to 10 years of probation, prosecutors said.
David Clare Lohr, 52, was sentenced on Oct. 27, according to a news release from Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. He received seven years of supervised probation on one count of criminal damage, and three years of probation on two counts of adding poison or other harmful substances to food, drink or medicine, the release stated.
Lohr also must pay $390.42 in restitution to Albertsons/Safeway and undergo a mental health evaluation, according to KTVK.

Lohr was charged with 10 felony counts in 2019 for tampering with products at Safeway, Target and Walgreens stores in the Phoenix area, The Arizona Republic reported. According to a plea agreement, Lohr pleaded guilty on Sept. 9 to three of the counts.
According to Brnovich’s news release, Lohr was originally arrested in October 2018. After his release, Lohr went to California and was arrested on Feb. 6, 2019, in Santa Clara County by the FBI on similar charges of tampering with consumer products, the Republic reported.
Authorities said Lohr was caught on video surveillance pouring bleach in freezers that contained packaged goods, the FBI said.
In October 2021, Lohr was sentenced to a 51-month prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release with mental health services, in connection with the California incident.
