AUSTIN, Texas — OK, it’s officially Christmas season -- at least in Austin, Texas.
Christmas Day is three months away, but that did not prevent a person dressed as Santa Claus from running onto the field during Saturday’s college football game between Texas and Texas Tech.
During the fourth quarter of the Longhorns’ 70-35 victory, St. Nick appeared on the field and began running up one sideline at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, KXAN reported.
After looping around the field, Santa sprinted down the other sideline -- outrunning a police officer -- and tumbled into the end zone, where he was tackled by stadium security officers.
“Like the rest of the Longhorns’ offense Saturday. he scored a touchdown,” KXAN reported.
As Santa was subdued, the stadium’s public address system blared Elvis Presley’s version of “Jailhouse Rock.”
Merry Christmas.
