Mark Meadows, White House chief of staff, tests positive for coronavirus

Mark Meadows, President Donald Trump’s chief of staff, has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to several media outlets.

Meadows’ condition was confirmed by a senior administration official to The New York Times.

Meadows' condition comes slightly more than a month after Trump and other members of his family and senior advisers tested positive, The Washington Post reported.

The White House declined to comment.

On Election Day, Meadows visited the Trump campaign headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, where he was photographed without a mask, according to the Post.

The White House had invited people to watch results with his staff on election night, CNN reported. Meadows was in attendance at the White House party, attended by hundreds of people, the network reported. Meadows was also among the people in the East Room of the White House when Trump made his 3 a.m. remarks on Wednesday, the Post reported.

At the time, White House communications director Alyssa Farah said there would be temperature checks and precautions taken because of the pandemic, CNN reported.

Meadows had been in close proximity to Trump when the president was diagnosed with COVID-19 more than a month ago, The Associated Press reported. Meadows was tested daily and continued to maintain his regular work schedule, according to the AP.
