Amy Locane, who shot to fame with roles in the movie “Cry Baby” and on television’s “Melrose Place," is going back to jail for her role in a deadly drunken-driving crash that happened in 2010.

Prosecutors said her first sentence was too lenient. A judge agreed, The Associated Press reported.

Locane did not admit she was responsible for the crash that killed Helene Seeman, 60, and severely injured the woman’s husband, Fred Seeman.

Officials said Locane had several drinks before she drove home the night of the crash. She hit the Seeman’s car as the couple was turning into their driveway. Locane said a third motorist whose car she slightly hit moments before the deadly crash distracted her by honking and chasing her, the AP reported.

She was not indicted for drunken driving but an expert for the state said she likely had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit and that she had been speeding at the time of the crash, going 53 mph in a 35 mph zone, the AP reported.

She has been sentenced to eight years in state prison and will be eligible for parole after she serves more than six years, the AP reported.

Locane was taken into custody and removed by court deputies after she apologized to the Seeman family.

The actress had been convicted on various counts including vehicular manslaughter. The most serious count had a sentence of five to 10 years. The state originally wanted seven years behind bars, but a judge sentenced her to three.

The sentence was appealed, and the judge found that the previous judge misapplied the law, but didn’t give her any more jail time.

Last year, she was sentenced to five years behind bars, but an appeals court found that the judge didn’t follow guidelines and ordered her to be sentenced again.

Her lawyer said that she had completed her first sentence and parole so any subsequent sentence would be double jeopardy for Locane.

Today’s sentence was the fourth sentence handed down by three judges, the AP reported.

She has 45 days to appeal.
