CHARLEROI, Pa. — A woman from Pennsylvania said she hid the body of her baby in the wall of a home in Washington County.
Kylie Wilt, 25, had told Washington County Children and Youth Services that her baby was with a woman in North Carolina, WPXI reported.
But investigators said that the baby actually died from sudden infant death syndrome and that she and the baby’s father didn’t have money to bury the child.
Wilt told officials that she wrapped the baby boy’s body in blankets after he died in February. She then put the child’s remains in a plastic crate and stored it in the laundry room. When she moved, she took the crate with her and put it in a cubby hole in a wall next to her bed, then covered the hole with drywall and painted it, officials said, according to WPXI.
Investigators found the baby’s remains still in the crate within the wall when they executed a search warrant.
Wilt, according to court records, is charged with concealing the death of a child, tampering with/fabricating physical evidence and abuse of a corpse, among other charges. She is being held in the Washington County Prison, unable to post the $50,000 monetary bail.
