CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Red Robin said in a statement that it had fired one of its employees in North Carolina after it received reports that customers had received drug-laced edibles in bags with their to-go orders.
WSOC reported that one of its employees found Rice Krispies and Froot Loop treats in his order with a card advertising edibles, and two other customers told its reporter that the same thing had happened to them.
One customer told WSOC that she and her daughters found the unwelcome treat in their bag on Wednesday night, saying that it resembled a Rice Krispies treat and had a card advertising “Kellz Sweet Treets: The Incredible Edible.”
“It was a shock to realize the person was that bold to give their card, put their face out there,” the customer told WSOC.
The Twitter account that was listed on the card was taken down after an initial report by WSOC.
A spokesperson for the Mecklenburg County Health Department told WSOC that officials visited a Red Robin in University City, where customers had complained about getting the treats. The spokesperson said that nothing was found during a walk-through of the facility.
