NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A child has been hospitalized after they were stabbed by a catfish in the chest, according to fire officials.
Pasco County Fire Rescue said a child is in serious condition after they were stabbed by a catfish in the chest.
According to WTVT, the incident happened Monday before 2 p.m. The mother was on the way to the hospital when the child started having a hard time breathing. PCFR said she pulled over and called for help.
PCFR said that once fire crews arrived, they listed the child as “trauma alert.” The catfish barb was in about 1 to 1.5 inches in the child’s chest, according to PCFR.
The child was airlifted to a Tampa hospital for treatment, according to WTVT. No further information has been released.
