ASHBURN, Va. — Christmas decorations in a Virginia neighborhood have been admired not only by area residents, but also by several animals.
Several weeks ago, Donna Eberle installed small cameras outside her home in Ashburn, hoping to see if the furry creatures who reside in the nearby woods would investigate, WJLA-TV reported. She even added a plate of dry cat food as an incentive.
She was not disappointed.
“I don’t even know how many flash drives worth of nature footage (I recorded),” Eberle told the television station. “It’s just insane.”
Insane and entertaining. When the sun went down, the animals came out to peek at the Christmas tree, which was an oscillating sprinkler wrapped in garland and lights, WJLA reported.
“Probably my favorite was one night when we had a possum, skunk, fox, deer, raccoon all within the same frame,” Eberle told the television station.
Eberle’s images almost look staged, and several people online said as much, WJLA reported. However, a camera crew stayed at the home one evening and quickly picks up images of a curious fox.
Eberle posted photos on a private Facebook page she created, Animals for Ashburn.
“I have always been a huge animal lover,” Eberle told Uplift Loudoun. “When my husband and I moved to Ashburn four years ago, I was so excited to find the abundance of wildlife in our area.
“I started sharing some of their antics on my personal Facebook page and after seeing the positive reactions from many of my friends I decided to start sharing my footage on the Nextdoor app and created an ‘Animals of Ashburn’ page on Facebook,” Eberle told Uplift Loudoun. “My hope is that these posts will not only bring a little positivity to people’s days but that they may also serve a greater purpose of inspiring an appreciation for our local wildlife.”
