COOS BAY, Ore. — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 struck off the Oregon coast early Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey is reporting.
According to the agency, the quake occurred about 3:30 a.m. PST and was centered about 197 miles west of Coos Bay at a depth of 6.2 miles. Two others with magnitudes of 5.3 and 5.4 occurred in the same area within the next half-hour, the agency reported.
No information about possible damage or injuries was immediately available.
